sage bass rod

The new sage bass fly rods look very interesting. Has anyone tried one out?

Here are links to three previous threads covering these rods. They include my extensive comments as well as those of others who have tried them.

I currently have the Largemouth and Smallmouth models and fish them regularly in fresh and saltwater.

thanks for the links. I should have searched first before posting

I have the smallmouth rod. It shoots line like a bullet, you should cast it with one backcast and done it doesn’t like to many backcast. You can easily shoot 80 feet of line with no problem. It is a little bit of to much rod for small bass, but will work great for catfish, carp,or any large game fish. I would recomend the Bluegill rod if you are looking just for bass fishing. The Smallmouth rod is about a heavy 9, or a light 10 wt. The bluegill I have been told is around a heavy 6wt. All in all they are all great rods and love the wind so don’t be afraid of using it in heavy wind.

I was thinking of using it for pike fishing. There are very few smallmouths up here.
I was wanting something to cast lefty’s deceivers and rabbit strip leeches and divers.
The pike around here are typically in the 6lb range with lots of fish in the 10lb categorie and the occasional 17lber.
Fishing is mostly in back bays, creek mouths and off of points, so no really long casts are needed. And very few weed beds to dredge a fly through.
This rod sounds like it could handle this with no problem.

I currently have a 10wt loomis cross current.
