Sage 505L parts/service

Hi,

I find myself newly in possession of Sage 505L. From the little research I’ve done, it was made by Hardy for Sage in the 80’s, I’m sure somebody here can verify or disprove that.

My question is, does anybody know where I might get parts/service for this reel? I called Sage and they told me it was long discontinued and they couldn’t direct me to anymore. The reel works fine but it is missing the black plastic cap on the reel frame that covers the spindle nut assembly and I’d like to try and find one.

Does anybody know of somebody/somewhere that repairs older reels like this?

Here is a picture of the reel, notice the missing cap/visible nut.

Capt. Paul Darby in Florida, a regular here for many years, is an expert on this stuff. CaptPaul462ataol.com should reach him or try 850-651-2991

Bill Archuleta. No personal experience with him, but he’s been repairing fly reels for many years. Not sure, but I believe he may have been a factory authorized repair shop for Hardy during the 80s-90s.

Hi rupshall,

I have the same Sage reel but a 606 and bought it new in the early 80’s (?)—it was my understanding at the time that it was made by Hardy , the inside looks like Hardy.

I lent mine out and it came back without the plastic cap, now mine looks like yours :frowning: but it is still a very nice reel .
