Like to thank all of you for the replies, comments and suggestions. Very much appreciated and looks like a good buy at a bargain price. For $63.00 it seems hard to go wrong.
Crackleback?Bob A
Hope so Bob. The sixty-four buck one is all set and ready to fish. In fact, that is what they call it. Sorry you didn’t make the Michigan, you could have played with one. Or, join us in Idaho; will have two there.
I have, and love the SA greens. I even replaced the butt section of one with a nicer piece. Good stuff for 2pc rods.
I’ve never been about “the stick”; I’ve been all about “the fly”
Jean was given the other S.A. Combo at the Michigan Fish In after “flailing” around with my “Cabelas Genisis” (130+) set-up and J.C. tried it and finally figured out why she was (and me) having such a hard time casting. The S.A is Great… not quite as nice as the “Reddington” she won at the drawing the next day( I’ve been allowed to play with it once).

And my wife will be “exercising” the other SA oufit presented at the AuSable Fish In. We’re meeting with my wife’s college gang for a reunion in NW Michigan this week but we’ll be spending a few extra days on the upper Manistee River. I’ve cast the SA outfit in the back yard and it feels like far higher quality than one would expect from a ChinaMart rig. It’s wonderful. Worth going to the shop and getting a copy. Good Stuff!!
The other Bill.
ignore me just setting up backup /replication for the db.
had to take the board down for 4 min…
this is just my test to insure it’s live again.
Does anyone know if SA offers the rod in the kit without the accessories and if so what it’s called?..price?
duck, the ‘value’ is in the price of the combo. When you can get a ‘whole dern thaing’ fer lessen sixty bucks, thet thar’s a deal!
Yep…and I’m going to get one for my grandson…
but I’d like one for me and I sure have “all the fixings” Plus I was hoping to find it in other than the 6 & 8…
duck, did you go to the website and look?
Yes , I did ,JC, and I couldn’t even find the stuff from the link you provided earlier…probably just me…I’ll work it out even if I have to call…I’m a believer in working at it till you make it happen
Thanks JC for helping me research my SA fishing outfit.
The difference in the Scientific angler outfits I have are that the graphite rods are high modulus (What does modulus mean?) graphite instead of graphite, and the floating fly lines are ultra 4 AST instead of Aircel, the reels are the same.
The price is around $120.00 for the package including case.
But I just wanted to share the fact that I will be hard pressed to justify replacing my SA rods, with my spouse, until I bust one. This Saturday I caught a 21.5 inch rainbow on the South Fork of the Boise River with 5x tippet and my 5w rod absorbed the fight fantastically.
I will post a picture as soon as I can get the roll developed, my spouse will not let me take the digital camera to the river.
What does modulus mean (High elasticity?)?
Sheldon
I’m sure someone with more knowledge will answer this but here is my limited definition.
Modulus is a measurment of a materials resistance to bending in relation to its weight.
Everything has a modulus rating…wood, steal, telephone poles etc.
JC already addressed this pretty darn well.
