Anybody ever tried putting rubber legs off the back of a Slumpbuster? I’ve had great luck with an orange Slumpbuster with copper braid and cone the last few weeks… the crappie love 'em! I’d like to think some of the fish mistake it for a crawdad bumping along the rocks.
Have any of you ever tried putting a pair of rubber leg “feelers” off the back of a Slumpbuster to imitate crawdad feelers? I’m thinking either black or orange/black barred rubber, or maybe even “motor oil” colored sili legs.
Random thought! Just figured it was worth asking. One thought is “yeah it’d look cool”, but the other side is “does it really improve it?”
Tim, I knew you had either thought of it or would try it out with me! I’m contemplating coming up in 2 wks for the bluegill outing… May be a good time for field testing.
Zac, I have tied them in olive with olive and black barred tarantulegs tied in under the collar, three on each side. All I can say is MONSTER 'GILLS! If you fish a spot where you’re catching small 'gills, tie on one of these and get a little deeper, beyond the little guys, and the big boys will hammer it.
Man, you caught me red handed! I was in the room tying this up- should have checked back first. I have a couple of flies that I have shot tutorials on for our club newsletter, but they can be a bit drawn out (many steps).
