I’m looking to stay there for a couple of days, several months from now. Could anyone recommend some basic accomodations in the area? Nothing fancy, just a cheap, clean place to stay.
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
If you click on the ‘Fish-Ins’ on the left and look at the ‘Roscoe’ ones you’ll see information about places to stay in the area as well as the upcoming Roscoe Fish-In 2006. In Livingston Manor there is at least 1 motel right near the Route 17 exit.

Thanks Allan,
I should have thought of that. I’ll chalk it up to a caffeine deficiency.

Hi,
One of the best places, if you like both simple (as in a dorm cabin with the “facilities” in another building) and near the water is right on the grounds of the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum. I’m not sure of the price/availabilty, but it might be worth a call. They did have a deal at one time for TU members, and we use the dorms for the cane class, but I don’t know the particulars.

For the fall gathering, we stay at the Roscoe Motel (since that’s where the chilli cookout is-grin)

Kat,
Thanks, I sent an e-mail in to them yesterday inquiring about the museum bunkhouse.

Hi Jeff, You could try the Reynolds House and Motel. The phone number is 607-498-4422.It’s in Roscoe right off the 17 exit ramp. You could also try The riverside Motel ,phone number is 607-498-5305.This is also off of 17 just above the Reynolds House. They are both your basic Motels , clean , cable or satellite TV. The Riverside has a resturant on the premices. Tom.PS Forgot to mention I have stayed in both

I often stay at the Rockland House. They offer a basic hotel room with the added bonus of Ralph Graves’ fly shop which is in one of the rooms. Ralph is a great fly tyer. You can stop in to watch him tie and discuss flies.
fpcba,
Ralph is great to watch and talk to. However, I don’t recall him tying a complete fly in all the times I’ve watched him in the shop. Wealth of knowledge and getting to talk and watch him is good enough reason to stay at Rockland House.
