Going through some of my Dads stuff I came across
this flyrod, Good shape but the guide thread needs to be redressed.

Two questions;

What would be best to redress the guide wraps - Spar varnish?

What to use to coat the entire fiberglass rod.

You could use an epoxy finish (not glue) or permagloss on the wraps if you want, but the spar will probably match the original
It’s not nessessery to finish the blank, unless you want to that is.
Use the same spar varnish
