My last tadpole rod was wrapped with black metallic, so I think this one is going to have a bit more bling. I have a new spool of cobalt metallic thread that needs a test drive…
Received all my materials for this swap today from Netcraft. I do not know what the USPS TRIED to do with the box, but it wasn’t good! What they DID manage to do was terrible!! By some total miracle the blank arrived in one piece … well … one piece for each of the two pieces that were supposed to be there. The cork grip, on the other hand, was not so lucky! I’ve never had a box hit/bent so bad that the CORK GRIP was broken in two!! Fortunately, I can do a repair on it, but, doggone! That was pretty crazy!!
I have two other rods to complete (Cary’s birthday gift, and another one for someone very special!!) then I can start on this build. Think it’s going to be lots of fun!!

Lately, it seems like shippers (or the young guys working there) have been stress testing rods in transit… In last year’s rod swap, two fellas got their blanks in a crushed condition…
and the last two times I’ve received rods, the packaging was destroyed. (fortunately, not the rods). also last year PacBay sent me a warranty replacement blank, and the package was crushed and torn completely open on one end, though the blank was OK.

Got all my parts, and then some, on Friday. Nice looking blank and I’m really impressed with the quality of the grip for that price. No I just have to figure out colors and bling. should be an easy project.
How is everyone doing? I’ve been swamped, but hope to get started in the next couple of weeks.
I been swamped as well… I got a new grandbaby comin any time now, and she’s trumpin’ any short term plans… It’ll be near Christmas before I get started. I did receive all my stuff last week or so, so I’m ready soon’s I get time. I’ll be done way before deadline…ModocDan
Mine is sitting there staring at me through about 6-7 other repair/builds. I should probably put that on the front of the bench and get it done and out of the way. It’s got to be better than the rod I’m working on now. It’s loaded with intermediate wraps that all have to be replaced. i can do about 10 then have to take a break and workon something else for awhile.
We were supposed to have started it already? Ooops!
