Got a call from my son asking advice on getting a fly rod.
He has “arrived”…can now afford a quality[whatever that means] rod and can spend some time fly fishing…when he was younger he just used one of mine.
His fishing will be mainly for trout, mostly stream, occasional stillwater, and we have decided on a 5 or 6 weight…for now he only wants one.
I don’t know the market and I know it’s best to test cast [frankly I think that may be something that is not of great value for the less accomplished caster] anyway that’s not an option for him.
Is there a brand that I can tell him to get and just go for it?..Gatti???..John??/…Obviously there are many good brands out there but if pinned down like he did to me what would you say?
