I have been very happy with my 6 wt Rio Clouser fly line and was looking to get an 8 wt. Unfortunately, Rio has discontinued the line and I can not find any old stock for sale in that weight. So I need an alternative. Does anyone have a suggestion for a similar line for tossing big ugly flies to bass in cooler waters? Relatively low memory and abrupt front taper.

I use the RIO outbound short cold water for stripers in New England. This might work
I have and like the Teeny Bass/Pike.
Have you looked at the Rio Smallmouth Bass line? Appears to be the follow on to the Clouser line. Call Rio and ask them to be sure.
Airflo 40-Plus really shoots line, has a heavy head…should toss your bass flies really well.

the New Version is almost the same taper- per the guys at Rio. its called the Rio power Fly. its 230 grains @ 30’ so… heavier then AFTMA standard - to load todays way to fast 8wts. the line will toss a big big bass fly without any issues.
