Ricks easy ant

Hey Rick Z,

What kind of non-slip mat material are you talking about??? Do you have a photo of what your using??

Thanks,

Fatman

The first time I logged onto the FAOL Main Page and noticed the oval with the ?background? and no fly photo I figured the fly would be added. Then I clicked on the Simple Ant Pattern link and realized I was looking at dozens of future ants, or a way to keep your coffee cup from sliding.

Great Idea, Rick. Love it.

Rick, is there a pattern and size that you cut out for the ants.

There is a picture of the label for the material and a picture of the material in the line from the home page.
I cut two sements out of the black or tan on a diagonal. I use a size 16 hook.

Rick

Okay call me stupid, I get the cutting at a diagonal but how do you get the shape of the body in the photo?? Roll in half with the piece you cut??

Fatman

Cut out any two adjacent bulges leave them connected together and you have the figure 8 form of the ant. Very very clever Rick. One of the easiest flies to tie.

Too simple. Somehwere Al Campbell is smiling.

I iked it some much because of the cut on the diagonal made it so easy to do.
I do cut a long strip of these off the roll and then tie them on and cut the rest of it off after I have been holding it.
With my big hands I find it easier to hold a stirng to 10 bumps than twso.

Rick

Sneaking into the kitchen at night, scissors in hand, delving into the cabinets to cut myself some ant body material. Then popping by the cleaning supplies on the way out to snag a snippet or three of ostrich feather from the duster…

You are a bad influence Dr. Rick… LOL

I can not be reosponsible for how you behave.
I goet into enough trouble at home on my own without having you try to blame me for what you do at home.
