Requesting, Island Nation of Ohio ...

Please check in!! Especially any near Toledo, and the tornados of this afternoon!! Thank you!!

Anyone have any info?? News hasn’t said much here. HELLO !!! Mickey ? Joe ? Anyone

I’m interested too Betty, Toledo was my old stompin’ grounds.

Back around 1966 or 67 I was settled down at my favorite bar on the corner of Lewis Ave. and Sylvania Ave. when the front door blew open, the lights went out and freight train passed through! The tornado took out a couple of blocks about 1/4 mile north! No causalties but a lot of damage. I knew what it was, not my first, so I just ordered another beer and drank by candle light!. I lived in Michaigan and knew I would have a difficult time getting home but a sympathtic blond made sure I had a place to stay that night!

There is another penninsula to Michigan that most people do not know about. “Lost Penninsula” sticks out into Maumee Bay and you have to go through Ohio to get to it. It suffered about 85% disturction from a tornado back in the early 70’s.

Thanks for checking!

I think a tornado might have touched down this evening on a farm in NW Ohio, but I think that was the extent of it.

I think the bigger problem at the moment is flooding. The ground was very saturated from snow melt and then it rained heavily all weekend. I was visiting family at home in MI (and made it briefly to the MFF Expo) over the weekend and had a nasty drive to my current residence in central Ohio this afternoon. There are few things more miserable for driving than spending several hours trying to see through pouring rain and windshield wipers set on “high.” Not sure that I’ve ever seen so much water in the fields and along the highway. Also had to take a detour because high water covered part of the the main highway. That was a first for me on my numerous trips to and from home.

Hopefully, the folks who went to the MFF Expo made it home before the worst of the storms.

Home from the Expo safe and sound, wallet a few pounds lighter. Had the same drive as Blue Dun…water everywhere. The river behind my place is flooded into the yard. Not a big thing, it happens several times a year, but I have a feeling I will not have much of a back yard for a few days.

Hope you all are alright. I remember the day Xenia got wiped out. Awful!

I didnt hear about the tornado —I couldnt see out the window anyway. 2 wrecks on RT 94 in 3 miles. It was an interesting drive with the construction and the water main break.

I’m in the SW part of the state and we didn’t get much here. A little breezey and .13 of rain. Haven’t heard anything regarding serious issues or problems in the Toledo area. Best I can say is no news in good news at this point. If I hear differently as the morning rolls along I’ll post what I know.

You’re the first to mention tornadoes. Picked up the paper this morning and no mention of them at all. Must not have been newsworthy. Did notice the big juicy nightcrawlers all over the lawn last night when I let the dog out before bed. Took the flashlight and looked around, and remembered back in the day when i would harvest hundreds of them for walleye fishing, and keep them in containers in the basement.

Betty after I saw this post last night I googled up Toledo weather on ch13 abc news for there. They showed a picture of a funnel cloud that came down and had a severe weather post for the night… Canton (where Tuber lives) had VERY high wind adviser with storms but no sever weather advisories…

Good Golly, Joe, pic them up and sell them! Have you seen the price of crawlers lately? There is a fortune to be made there!

Many a plump 15-22 inch walleye or chubby 12-15 inch yellow perch has landed on the dinner table because of their love for the nightcrawler!

We had some winds here in Canton, but this is the first I heard of any tornado.
