Report on a fishing safari in New Zealand

Hi e-mailed foal to check if it would be OK to post link to this report but
did not receive a reply so hope it is permitted as some members may be
interested in a first hand account of a 2 1/2 mth. fishing safari of the Nth.
& Sth. Is of NZ.

This report was written for a UK FF forum at the request of the members
& posting a link saves the bother of having to re write it.

BTW in a post to FOAL an open invitation was extended for a member to
join in this trip.

Unfortunately when it was first begun, pc was unable to post relavent pics,
so apologise that it takes awhile to “warm up” maybe 3/4 way thru pg. one.

Hope members here find the report of interest … if so may like to check out
a couple of earlier reports in the foal “Down Under archives” that can be found
by scrolling to the bottom of the article that appears.

Cheers Barry

Hi Bazza, I enjoyed the report (on the NZ board). Have you been out recently, I am trying to get down to Roturua before closing but am finding it hard to find the time.
All the best.
Mike.

Hi Mike

Thanks for your kind comments. I see by your profile you are also based in Auckland
so can probably empathise re the traffic problems.

No have not been fishing since getting back … been busy attending to this & that connected with the new boat … which if not done now … will never get done.

Besides this current bout of weather precludes most freshwate fishing apart from
maybe flooded main streets in several Sth. Is. towns.

However like yourself, am planning on a few days awy in the m/home before the
season closes at the end of May … pm if interested in joining me.

Cheers mate

P.S. are you a member of either afac or the Nth. Shore clubs ?

Ngongotaha better be on your itinerary Mike!!!

Well, I may just give it a flick, but it is not my favourite place, too much debris and too many fishermen. Lovely big trout though!
Bazza, I PM’d you a reply.
All the best.
Mike

Full marks MFTG for getting the spelling correct … most (some Kiwis also)
cannot pronounce it let alone spell it correctly.
