I have a different question - I got a “beater” off e-bay to refinish, and someone on the bamboo board said it might be a real find, but meantime, I want to fix it up so I can at least cast it - it needs new ferrules and guides before I can even see if I like it, so how can I put on some cheap ferrules so that they can be removed if it turns out to be something that should be restored? Some kind of heatable glue that will “turn loose” with more heat?
Someone posted earlier about doing ferrules with plio bond and heat. If heat puts’em on, it should also take’em off when you want to.
Get yourself a stick of ferrule cement. It is a heat set glue. Just heat the end and smear it on the rod. Re heat and slide the ferrule on. To remove, heat again. A lot of builders still use this product…it will not be hard to find.

Both Lee and HF are correct but IMHO before you messabout with this rod, please get confirmation of the quality/value of this boo rod. Those guys on the boo site are purty good spotters of a good thing. Then if it’s no more than your run-o-the-mill blue collar rod, use modern hardware on it.
Again my IMHO and $0.020000 worth.
Thanks for your concern, Quinn, it was someone on the Clark’s board that thought my rod might be a piece of rodmaking history, but I can’t seem to get any more replies about it - have contacted Banjo to help, and paducah, and am waiting for a reply.
Kaboom, is the ferrule cement the same thing as the stuff you can stick the guide feet on with? And if so, can I use it on the tip top too?
It’s a different animal than the stuff for guides. It works for the ferrules and tip tops.
Brad
OK, thanks, that’s what I will get.
