I know we had some discussion on backpacks recently, but I don’t know if we had anyone that owned the LL Bean Remote Waters Fish Pack, combination backpack/fly vest. If anyone has any experience with this product, I would appreciate your input, as I would like to order it as a Christmas gift for myself from my kids.
I don’t own one, but I’m curious why/when you would want to fish while wearing a full back pack? I usually pack my stuff in, set up camp, then go fish. If I fish on the hike in or the hike out, I drop my backpack by the side of the creek before I fish.
It just seems odd to me to have a full-on backpack that doubles as a fishing vest.
I’ve got Bean’s “rapid river” vest pack (which I love), and that’s about as big as I’d want to wear when fishing. I can’t imagine wanting to fish wearing a full internal frame backpack.
I wonder if you’d be better off seperating out the functions of backpack and vest. For overnight trips, I’d use a regular backpack, and carry along a William Joseph ultralight chest pack (less than 5 ounces) to fish with when you get to your fishing spot.
