Well, I finally broke down and picked up a few threads, floss, feathers, and fur. One thing about being back in Nova Scotia is I’m able to find lots of colours of thread I can’t get in New Zealand. I even found some of Uni’s “Light Blue”, which I was looking for. Donald tied up one of Pritt’s flies using it and I really liked the look, so I’m quite pleased to find a source. Also, was able to get some royal blue, and copper/blue tinsel.
I’m quite pleased to finally be able to tie a few flies up. Was missing it.
Thanks guys. Will try and post a few pics when I get some tied up. Looking at what I picked up, most likely they will be “free-style” spiders and/or mini squirrel tail streamers. Will be interesting to see how things turn out. Now, it’s been a long time since I’ve had to wait for the season to begin again. Good thing I brought my 3-weight with me. It will be just the thing for some of the brookies. Looking forward to catching some of them again.
