Redington Rs4 question

Hello everyone,

I am new to the board, but have been gleaning info from FAOL for a short while. GREAT SITE and so far from what I have seen excellent board. OK now onto the question. I am looking for a new saltwater rod and have found Redington’s Rs4 8wt on sale. Does anyone on the board use this rod for the salt? If so please post your thoughts pro or con on the rod. I will be using it primarily for redfish and snook on Florida’s west coast and sometime in the keys.

Thanks
Dave

Can’t help you on the rod question, but welcome to the board !

Redfish,

I don’t own that specific Redington rod but I do own a few Redingtons. I can tall you that they are a good company, owned by Sage (my favorire rods) and they have a lifetime warranty. You can’t go wrong with the Redington. The Rs4 should be a very good rod for the type of fishing you want to do.

I own an older Redington Redfly 5/6. and it still is one of my favorite fly rods. I am not sure about the RS4 model. I was not aware that they are owned by sage, but I do believe they are made overseas if that has any bearing whatsoever.

I wish I could provide advice on the right type of rod for your fishing, but my florida fishing was limited, but a 9 weight seemed to be the overal suggested for Bones, baby tarpon, Jacks and cuda. I also use a 9 or a 10 weight to chase stripers here in new england with aggressive grain lines.
