Anyone own a Redington CPS rod? I understand that they are a very fast action rod which I prefer. I’m considering an 8’6", 3 wt and would like some information from anyone who has owned one or cast one. Thanks

Yes, I know - go cast the thing myself - but in this circumstance - that isn’t possible.
There was a well respected review of fly rods on the web. (I wish I could tell you where to begin a google search.) The CPS got very high marks, higher than a lot of top-of-the-line
rods. It is, however, very fast.
When I replace my old 6-weight I’ll go for a CPS.

I have the Cps 4 - 6 & 8wt all in 9 ft. They have an extemely light feel in hand and are very quick but still have nice touch. They are not atip action , the deeper you load them the further down the shaft they bend. I absolutely love mine and feel like they were made for my stroke.
They sound like they will be perfect for me. I lost my fast action 3 wt two seasons ago by my stupidity. I left the rod on the roof of my van and drove off to never find the rod again.
Found a great price on a close out and had to have one. I wish that I could have cast it first, but the rod that I lost was a Redington FSF, a less expensive, fast action Redington rod so I think that this willl fill that void nicely.
Anyone know where the review of the rod is on the web, I would love to read it still. I see where some advertisements for these specifically speak to it being well reviewed, but can’t find the actual review anywhere.

They are being discontinued for 2009 so get them while you can.On sale for $199.

Went out on Tuesday with my new Redington CPS in 3 wt. Since I own 3 different 4 wt rods with reels all set up for them, I just put one of those reels on the rod and off to Iowa I went. Our Wis trout season is closed and this is the closest spot to catch trout now.
The very fast action CPS handled the one wt of line up fantastically. Even though there were some very good breezes occuring and I was concerned about taking a 3 wt in these conditions, this rod powered through that wind like a 6 wt - well almost but I was impressed with the amount of power in this 3 wt rod.
The rod was very light and responsive and I couldn’t have been happier with my selection.
