my first koi
Wow, great looking fish. Was it a good fight?
The book wasn’t bad either.
yes it was!
That one need to get put int someones pond! Pretty fish!
I didn’t think they’d let you fish at the pet store
By any chance was he caught in Prospect park?
Bill
no this one was caught in Queens, New York. Koi may be in all 5 counties of NYC. they belong to NYC it is catch & release in the city. finicky eaters & harder to catch than carp.
Bill:
I have enjoyed your posts about fly rodding in NYC. I was in New York last weekend and while walking around Central park I thought of you. Next time I go visit my family I am going to bring a rod. They live at 102 and Riverside, a short walk to the park.

That’s awesome, Bill! Beautiful fish!
man that is one ugly fish, somebody had to say it!
Yeah, fish are ugly, but some people are giving up big bucks for ugly! eg.:http://www.coloradokoi.com/koi_pricing.htm
How long was it Bill?
Beauty in is the eye of the beholder, I guess, I think it’s pretty. Regular carp now that’s ugly, regular carp stripping line off my reel BEAUTIFUL!
it was bout 20- 24 inches! but the koi was in a NYC pond and therefore, belongs to the city. catch & release only here in NYC. most of the lakes in NYC have them in various colors. they are finicky & hard to catch.
The NCO Club over at Schofield Bks got rid of the Koi in their aquarium when they renovated. I understand that’s how they got into Wahiawa Res…
We catch a few from time to time… beautiful fish and hard fighters.
