Not sure about the “red fox” but pattern I like is really simple:

hook: 4-10 dry or wet (depends on how you want to fish it)
thread: black
body: silver tinsel
over body:two mallard flank feathers, one on each side
hackle: 1 grizzly, 1 brown neck or saddle

Western style has the back ends of the mallard laquered down to a point. Eastern style leaves em be. (I think, or maybe it is the other way around??)
Either way works. The only thing I could think the red fox would be for is a wing, or possibly to bulk up the body. You can add whatever you want to dress it up though, of course.

I could make one up that uses fed fox if you want. But it will probably not be what you are looking for.

i read about it on the home page of the camp I am fishing from next week. I just re-checked and they say a Red Fox Hornberg.

I guess it is regional–if they have some at the camp I will pick one up use it (most likely) and then buy a second to dissect and let you all know what it is
