REC Recoil RSG Stripping guides?

Anyone use these on their fly rods? Opinions?

Yep I’ve used them on a number of rods in the past. They work good, little pricey. Only real “negative” if you can call it that is if you use all recoils then they do "sing’ a bit during casting. By sing I mean they make a bit of a noise when you shoot line. besides that they are good working guides, kind’a funny looking though…remind a lot of the look of the old styale perfection guides from the 60’s.

I was thinking about those and the single foot recoils on my 6 wt that I am going to build someday.

I’m using all RECoils on my current Tiger eye build. The snakes are at least twice the price of the cheapest chrome snakes, but the same price +/- as many other types of snakes. The strippers are also few bucks over others, but as far as total price, you’re only using 2 strippers at most right? Even on a 10 foot rod, RECoils over the cheapest guides you could use is only going to cost maybe $15 more total? Depending on what other guides you might choose, RECoils could even be cheaper. I fell in love with the RECoil guides the first time a fly shop employee pulled a (Scott?) rod off the shelf and smashed down the guide to show me how it popped right back up. Then he said “here you try it”. After already seeing the price tag, I said “no thanks, I’ll take your word for it”. The thoughts ‘you break it you bought it’ kept running through my head.

I think RECoils are well worth the price for the durability no other guide can offer. And I agree the strippers do have a bit of a retro look.
Just be glad they don’t have Agate inserts!!!
