A new format. This swap is going to be about using real animal hair. I’m looking for everyone to pick an animal and tie 2 patterns using its hair. Any hair will do as long as it is real and not synthetic. Squirrel, elk, beaver, fox, raccoon, woodchuck, coyote, etc. (You get the idea) The only rules I have on the pattern selection is that the 2 are not similar. Don’t tie 2 nymphs–show everyone the versatility of the hair you selected. For example, if you pick rabbit, 2 good patterns might be the gold ribbed hare’s ear, and the double bunny, or deer could be the madam-x and a spun hair popper of some sort. Please, no duplicate species.
SO, signup and give us your species, and the 2 patterns that you want to tie. I’m going to limit this swap to the first 10 tyers, so you will need to submit 16 flies (8 of each pattern). Be sure to have them toetagged with your user name, the pattern, and species.
Mail them to me in a crushproof container, with return packaging and postage (not metered). Deadlines are March 24 for signup, and flies need to be to me no later than April 18. If you are late, your flies will be returned. As always, I can be reasonable for legitimate reasons.
I will take the squirrel, and tie a squirrel leech, and a swhapf.

Folks you can not go wrong in joining in on this swap. I can think of a few types of hair that have not been listed yet. You will be getting into a swap with best of the Swapmeisters. If you have not done it before try your hand at tying with hair. It does make some real nice flies. There are only a few spots left and the signup deadline is fast approching. Thanks ol’blue for this nice swap. John
I’ll take a spot if you do not mind wolverine. Seems timely with the recent news out of CA. One will be a hairwing streamer which wolverine is fantastic for and the second will take a bit more thought. There are lots of options, but there are too many caddis nymphs listed already and that is where the bubble-holding, light refracting underfur really shines.
Might be a pun there…
Might be able to come up with some pieces to send along if anyone wants some. It is fairly easy to come by here…
