Has anyone ever thought about using a pair of mono eyes as the black spot on a shad immitation fly? Like putting them 1/2" or so behind the weighted eyes on a Clouser minnow.
tried it but didnt like it… worked better for me just colouring a peice of plastic bag black then use a hole punch to punch out black spots then tie one on each side behind the lead eyes…

Here’s another situation I’ve run into:
I tie up some FEB hoppers, but while tying in the centipede legs the marks come off on my fingers. How do I get them tied in and still have nice black/white legs?

i would think you would color the legs AFTER you tye it. that way there is no smudge and it wont rub off.

I’ve noticed the same thing with this product. Just try not too handle them so much when tying them on and this will lessen the problem. You could also try using barred Sili Legs instead which I think provides better action than standard rubber legs.
Whatfly, that’s the only conclusion I can come up with! I may try using some sili legs on a couple, but I like to “pop” the hopper every now and then and those stiff legs push a little water that way, which I like. However, on a drift or at the lake, those sili legs would be great!
