Has anyone built on the Rainshadow Switch Rod Blanks? I’m wondering your opinions on the 10’ 8" four piece. Is it light and stiff enough to use for nymphing? I’d like to buy one to build over the winter. You can PM me as to not hurt anyone’s feelings.
Thanks,
Bruce
Lastchance i have built on that blank in 8 wt fore fishing in salt water fore stripers. I like the action very much and the blank is very nice.I would guess if you built a lighter wt and used all light wt guides and reel seat also keep the cork on the small side you could use it to nympm. It would probably get a little heavy if you fish all day. Just my opinion good luck with your project Chuck
I have built a couple of 6wt rods on the switch rod blank. I would say that the rod definately could be used for nymphing. I would consider that the rod would be of medium fast action. Nice tip for protecting light tippets. When you want to the rod will throw out a good amount of line, leader and tippet.
