I am curious as to why some folks quote lengthy posts in their own posts. I suspect that before most of us read post #5 in a thread, we have already read posts 1 through 4, so we don’t necessarily need to have post 3, say, in its 500 word entirety, quoted in the fifth post. Especially if what post #5 actually says is something like “I agree with what poster #3 said”. A page of quotation for one sentence of reply??
Quote where you need to refer to something specific that was stated earlier, but keep it short and to the point. It makes it easier for the rest of us to read and follow.
DG,

Left click on selected lines and Hi-light them and right click on the lines you want and choose “copy” and when you add your reply, just right click and choose “paste”
I know you already knew that!

Just kidding. I’m really sorry but I couldn’t resist the quote button. Seriously, you raise an excellent point, particularly when someone quotes someone who quoted someone etc. etc. etc. All the posts appear again and again. This is an even greater problem when people quote a post with photos. The photos appear repeatedly in later references and take up huge amounts of space. Point well taken. Thanks DG. 8T
Quotes that contain quotes that contain quotes etc., are laborious reading at best. I generally use the " what he/they said" . BUT, as with most minutia, I can live wit it. A we said in younger days, " don’t sweat the small stuff".

Or, you could just highlite an appropriate point of the post, and cut and paste it into your reply, to help make the point. A little more laborious, but it works.
Some people want to make sure everyone is aware of “exactly” what they are referring to.
Some people like to annoy others with multiple levels of quotes.
It all depends on how the planets are aligned, the phase of the moon, and which side of the bed everyone got up on this morning.
Until this was brought up, I never really gave it any thought, and I’m going to go back to that same posture…not letting it bother me.
Life’s to short to care about things that we cannot do anything about. Let’s go ice fishing with our fly rods, or make mini-banty ice rods out of old tip sections we find at garage sales.
Lew;
It’s not at ALL “hard to hit the hole” when ice fishing with a fly rod! It’s just evident, that YOU are not cutting it at 90’ x 1"!!
(this size hole, also increases your chances of NOT seeing the non-existent rising fish!)
