quote for 5-6

“Next time you hook a fly in your shirt or jacket, try this method of working it free without tearing the fabric: stick a pin through the cloth where the hook entered and use it as a wedge to force the fabric away from the barb. Then carefully back the hook out.”

You know, this probably works very well. But… I don’t really trust myself with yet another pointy object.

Does this work when the hook is in the skin?

Or…You could carefully back the de-barbed hook out of your shirt, if you didn’t have a pin on you.

That reminds me of what my 82 year old mentor said the other day when i heard his fly hit a piece of tubing on the boat—

I said “hey–that sounded like metal to metal contact over there!”

He said “Yeah–metal to skin doesnt make that sound!”
