From a Survey on gas prices Higher prices =HP

                                       Anglers% Hunters%

HP will not affect my
fishing/hunting activities 35.5 41.5

HP will cause me to
hunt/fish less this year. 22.4 15.8

I will probably fish/hunt the
same amount this year, but 30.0 25.0
not travel as far or use a boat
as much.

I am not sure how gasoline
prices will affect my fishing/ 12.0 17.1
hunting this year

The cost of gas is gonna make me focus on warm-water this year…largemouth in particular.
I have a feeling it might just be a blessing in disguise.

As for seeking the "holy grail of anglingdom…trout!", I’ll have to limit my trips to a few several
day afairs…sleeping in the back of my truck in some remote national forest campground.
As long as I don’t hear “the owl call my name”, I expect it’ll be good. Besides, "to catch trout
you have to suffer." maybe…unless I can avoid it. :stuck_out_tongue:

“High gas prices-versus fishing travel”??
Easy…My bride enters my tying room, looks around, makes the comment every time…“With the MONEY you have invested in all of this STUFF of yours, you’d BETTER plan on using it A LOT, again, this year!”
“Money Invested”-“YOU’D BETTER” and “PLAN ON A LOT” are all great incentives, when said, the way SHE says those words. Price of gas, won’t be holding me back at all this year. The ER, bandages, ointments, sutures, blood transfusions, all of these things are far more expensive than gasoline!

I used to fish Raritan Bay couple of times a year. gas for the truck and boat split between three guys was not that bad but it still was the most expensive fluke/striper in the world.
Nowadays this kind of trip will have to be planned lika a vacation - with calendar and checkbook. Local trips are still OK but instead going twice a week we might go only once but make it a full day. Maybe. I do not know yet.
