When I first got into FAOL Al Campbell was still alive and active. He
published an article about how to tie a fly that was very similiar to
one of my favorites. I wrote him an E Mail and asked him about the
way the wing was applied to the fly. I applied the wing before the
hackle and Al did it after the hackle. His response was “Probably not
to the fish, but it does to me”. I thought at the time that was kind
of a snippy answer and let the matter drop. As I matured into FAOL I
came to realize that Mr Campbell was really a dedicated individual who
took pride in his doings. A fine fellow.
