Rick, I’m not quite sure what Mr. Baldwin was trying to say, but I once worked with a guy – a really sloppy eater – who liked to say he’d never starve: “If I lose this job, I can always boil my neckties and make soup.”
If grandpa was still alive he would say that his grandson is a real poor quoter. Rick published the quote exactly as I sent it to him. I screwed up. My fault. Grandpa said “Bites make mighty THIN soup”.
