Quest for trout! w/pics

Well folks,

Today I have completed a quest… and thought that I would share it with you…

Below you’ll find photo’s of two brown trout caught from Oatka Creek in NY this morning… The first one is #99 and the second as well as the close up are of #100 for the season… I started fishing for trout on June 1st right after the turkey season closed… Not that I’m all about the numbers…

I’m just glad to be out there catching trout, but this is a milestone for me…

Hope all is well with you and yours, Doug… I’m lov’in it!

Congrats!

Not only on catching that many fish, but in keeping track. I loose track within a day of what I caught or how many.

Good looking fish. Beetle pattern??

Yep, #100 came on a Black foam beetle with a yellow sight post… I was fishing a midge larva dropper off it… He really slammed into that beetle… He was under a weed bed and I never saw him until he came bolting for the fly, luckly I was ready…

PS. I probably will not keep track again… since this was my first season in retirement I thought I’d keep track this year…I just wanted to get to 100 once… thanks, Doug.

Oh - how lucky you are to have the time AND the areas to catch 100 fish!!!

GOOD FOR YOU!

Enjoy your retirement!

Doug,
Thanks and congratulations!!! Nice photos!!! Keep catchin em!!!
Doug

Great pictures and I know you will have many more great fishing stories to tell about. I only have one question and you will have to forgive me for asking, but, my wife always tells me I am too observant, but, I have to know why you have the rubber band around the reel seat on the rod?! :?

Yeah, but can you tell us the ratio of red spots to black spots on the fish?

Nice pic’s and nice trout!!! Thanks for letting us share your fun!!! I always enjoy the pic’s…

Warren,

but, I have to know why you have the rubber band around the reel seat on the rod?!

If you must know… I’m old school and when I take down my 2 piece H&H 9 foot 3 wgt. rod appart; the rubber band holds the two pieces of rod together at the butt and also holds the end of my fly line from wrapping all the way around the inside reel… the rod sits in my trucks gun rack till I get home… I don’t break my rod/reel down when I’m fishing local areas on a regular basis… now you can sleep… hehehehehe…

great job!!! iam glad you got out and enjoyed the oatka its fun creek to fish.

dr korn,
Your OLD SCHOOL??? We wouldn’t know about that around here!! Were ALL YOUNG guys!!!
