Quality Marabou

I am in search of good quality marabou for buggers as well as many other flies where marabou helps give the fly action (steelhead flies, various nymphs, etc). Any suggestions from your experience which vendor (on line) has good marabou?

Dr Bob

trout hunter (rene harrop) used to carry premier maribou. GOOGLE em up!

but dont forget your local fly shop or the sponsor on this site

Trouthunter.com does have some very good marabou which comes in some unique colors.

Best stuff out there I’ve seen so far is Jay Fair’s marabou (http://www.eagleflyfishing.com/) , which if you look around for a bit can be found lot’s of places. Pricey, but very high quality.

I prefer Hareline and Wapsi grizzly marabou (chickabou), for the flies I tie. Good color choices, feather quality, and the barring adds to the flies, I believe. Many fly shops carry this, not sure where to get it online.

Angler’s Workshop www.anglersworkshop.com has a house brand that is not too bad, but I prefer the other stuff.

I agree. The action of their marabou is fantastic!

My son shot a very young turkey last month and it had the best maribou I have ever seen on a wild bird. Pardo is the only description that really works. Black speckled with whitish-gray and blue dun… And very fluffy!

It is hard to find decent maribou, let alone good stuff…

Wapsi sells special ‘wooly bugger marabou’ packs. Lots of good quality feathers without much waste.

It is the best I have ever used! It is the long fluffy stuff, best colors out there! He gets it from a source the makes showgirl customs and then dyes it. I would not tye my flies with anyhing else.
