Procter Olde 17 (variation) SBS

A takeoff on an old Charles Cotton fly; kind of a Jingler comparadun. Swapped out original mallard flank tail for pheasant. Change color/size to suit your needs.

hook - Dai Riki 300 #10
thread - UTC 70 woodduck
tail - bleached pheasant tail dyed golden olive (1Tbs Rit Golden Yellow/1 cup water overdyed for 30 seconds with 1 Tbs Rit Golden Yellow, 1/2 Tsp Rit Dark Green/1 cup water)
rib - tying thread doubled/twisted
body - dubbing hare’s ear/tan
body hackle - grizzly dyed brownish olive (1Tbs Rit Tan/1 cup water)
wing - partridge

Part 1

mash barb/start thread, wrap to bend

measure (hook length) some pt fibers, tie in/trim; double up thread for rib

dub thread/dub body to 2/3 mark

tie in hackle; wrap to tail

rib thru hackle, tie off/trim; trim out hackle underneath

Part 2

tie in partridge at eye, return thread to 2/3 mark; wrap partridge back to 2/3 mark, tie off/trim

rib thread thru hackle while stroking fibers up

whip finish, SHHAN
