PRIDE GOES BEFORE THE FALL (II)

Fiction by Neil…

As darkness fell he held his tippet up to the fading light and tied on yet another fly. Out in the darkening stream the big trout continued to rise, and as he placed another fly perfectly in the drift line of the largest riser it floated downstream unmolested.

What! Again!! Now I gotta hang around til next week.

REE

This sounds too much like “real life” to be fiction. Reminds me of the time I went duck hunting on a windy, snowy day, and after shooting a Teal, while retreiving, I stepped in a muskrat hole, dropped my gun in the water, split my waders in the crotch, took a bath, and then had to find the shotgun, flounder out of the water, and slog back to the pick-up a thousand yards away while turning into an icicle. I don’t recall ever going back there.
Great story! I didn’t see a part three mentioned. I hope there is one.

The title of this piece says it all - Pride goes before the fall. No more installments to this piece.
