Thats totally awesome.

Mmmm perhaps a #14 Pheasant tail nymph or a #12 Copper John on a type #vi sinking line? (You would need a fast sink to get down 1800 feet. IMO

It doesn’t look like good eating but you never know. I will check for recipes in the “Whats Cooking forum.”

I would sure hesitate to net it.
Yup I think C&R is the plan on this one folks.

Good find Jed, Thanks

Aw heck! You should have seen the one I got, on a dry too! :stuck_out_tongue:

This poor creature was dying when caught. It was kaput within a few hours after the film was shot. Saw it on the news today.

Would that be a green, size 18 chironomid? Honest?

Have you guys seen the videos of the giant squid that they hooked? Filming one of those things was like the holy grail of marine biology; they’ve been finding dead ones for hundreds of years, but they had never seen a live one.

Yeah, I really like watching shows on these types of things. Who really knows what is 2 miles down in the ocean.

I saw that squid, even though a baby, totally awesome. Calamari?

A sneaker?

(e.g…“The Abyss”)

How can the shark be prehistoric? He’s on video for cryin’ out loud! That’s gotta be one of the funniest mistakes I’ve read this week.

Prehistoric usually means before history or before written documentation…  When will the evolutionists ever give up on that word?

Pretty cool fishy, though…

Generally, when using the term “prehistoric” to describe a living species, it means that the species, as it appears today, originates back before recorded time. The creature would have to appear now, as it did then with little to no changes and have very primitive versions of modern adaptations. Crocodilians, the ceolocanth and hagfishes all fall under this category.

I just don’t buy into the term prehistoric. It’s the kind of guy I am…

Prehistoric has a OLD definition. It should be replaced with “REAL OLD STUFF WE CAUGHT ON VIDEO!”
If that shark was living 2 miles down in the ocean and he came to the surface and got a look at what was going on around here, you can’t blame him for dying!
Doug

I’d point the finger at the “Flintstones”…

LOL!! I’ll mention that to one of my prof’s…maybe we can write an article and see if we can get the nomenclature changed!!
