Predicting the tides

This looks like a pretty good place for data on Tides

But do any of you guys use the tide prediction software that I see around?

Thank you BFB - I like it…I could pull what I was looking for with a one day window, when I went beyond that it said “Data Missing”. No biggy. I was looking at the mouth of the Columbia River. Nothing like sitting on a shoreline, middle of the night, quiet summer night, light breeze and a full moon and high tide. It haunts me still.

We use the Tide Charts on the link here on FAOL. (Click on FEATURES, then Tide Charts. If you are looking for the mouth of the Columbia, there are 3 or 4 sights from which to choose. Plus you can pick what day/days you want. What’s not to like?

Jonezee,

I was able to extract 14 days for “Columbia River entrance (N. Jetty)”. It’s not the best UI. Here’s what I did.

(1) I selected “tide” in the phrase “Onwards to the tide selection page”.

(2) I picked Washington State.

(3) Then Columbia River entrance (N. Jetty)

(4) Then I scrolled to the bottom of the page and picked April, then 15 for the starting date, then 14 days.

And got 14 days of data.

Is that what you did?

The “software” I use is a float tube…If you float AWAY from the beach, it’s an “outgoing” tide…If you go out faster 'n “H*LL” it’s a “riptide”. In that case, scream “HELP!” at the top of your lungs.
(Sorry, I couldn’t resist!)

Hey! SaltwaterTides.com and Features->Tide Charts are identical! I guess if you don’t want to remember SaltwaterTides.com you can just go to Features->Tide Charts!

I don’t know why I use them, I never get any darn Fla. fish, some day though.

I used one of the Astoria sites, but yes, same process. It does work S One other thing, you can either just print out of page of info, or cut and paste it into another program and print it out so you can take it with you.
