I had posted before that my older (by a year) Sister Patty was treating for breast cancer. The Chemo was VERY successful & shrunk the tumor to almost nothing. Then Patty had a choice to make regarding surgery. She could have either a lumpectomy (30% chance of the cancer reoccurring) or a double mastectomy (only a 5% chance of it reoccurring)). She wisely and bravely has chosen the double mastectomy. She has the surgery tomorrow, 7/8/10, & will be released Friday, after just ONE day! Her spirits are good, as evidenced by our joking about the short stay. She said the hospital should have “drive thru surgery” & we laughed about ordering “A couple boobs to go!”.
In spite of the positive attitude & humor we “Flanagan Kids” have been Blessed with in facing adversity, your prayers are much appreciated for my beloved Big Sister, Patty.
