Now that I’m adding a trolling motor I have to register my Creek Co. ODC 816 which means Numbers and Sticker. What is the best method to do this on a Nylon fabric? I think I can solve the Number problem with stencils and paint but the registration sticker has me stumped!
I plan to contact the manufacturer too but thought I’d run the problem by you guys first.
Jack, I haven’t done it yet but the Marine Board out here told me most of the owners were using an attached tag and that was OK…may vary state to state.
We used Lexan (which is some pretty strong stuff) and painted the back. I used nylon straps on both the plastic and on the frame of the toon and quick clips. I have heard several use Vinyl siding. It is the right width and very flexable, plus thin.
Here is some pixs of how we did both our Cardiacs and the NavigatorII.
Joni;
That’s exactly what I had in mind! In fact when I first got into plastics the first company I worked for (You move around a lot in plastics!) die cut the letters & numbers and injection molded an ABS plate to stick them on!
good luck, mine got sent back from IL DNR cause I didn’t have a hull id #…
Gotta call the CPO to figure out what to do…
It is tough. They say we have to licence tube/toons if we put a motor on them but then have no idea how to do this. The majority do not have a serial number or any other kind of number. And what to do if you purchased your boat several years ago and NOW want to add a motor. Worse yet, what if someone GAVE you the boat.
All I can say is try putting the boat and the motor in your vehicle, then go to the DMV.
They make this way harder than it needs to be.
Here in Utah as of this year, there is ONE price for tube/toon. That is cool cause I got reamed the first year due to the fact that I registered two PONTOONS that were over $1,000. each. She wanted a title…WHAT!
The supervisor saved the day on that one, but they still charged me too much. I said heck with it and went with that price.
It is getting easier now that more are doing it.
I had what is called a FLOTE POWER several years ago. A small tube that held a battery and the motor. I had this connected to a Caddis Dounut. They had my Caddis not only listed as having a 3 hourspower motor, but an inboard/outboard! KEWL!
Speaking of title…This thread reminded me that I had registered my Fish Cat Cougar last year thinking I was going on some public waters with a motor on…never did so the paper work was buried somewhere …found it yesterday…and note that now I have [besides the stickers] a title that is just like one for an automobile…guess if I sell it I’m going to have to go through all the motions like an automobile…why so complicated?
Does anyone know what happens if I don’t renew???
GOOD QUESTION! I would guess nothing if you don’t put a motor on it, if you do, well, of you can get a ticket for it…it will happen to me, so I just do it every year in April.
In Idaho if its year 2000 or newer and put a motor on it you are suppose to get it titleded and a number and sticker. I have one number and sticker on the back of the seat and haven’t had any problems yet. Happy Fishing

Welcome aboard!! Thank you for the insight, maybe I can get away with it here in Tennessee. So far they’ve said I only need a Bill of Sale.
What part of Idaho? I have a brother up by Coeur D’Alene.
Join us in the chat room any evening!
Thanks Jack. I’m from the south east corner, in Preston. I love to tube on the lakes we have in this area. It’s staying alittle to hot right now. Soon I hope.
When I float in Idaho, there are several times I have only put one plate on (either forget the other one or too lazy )
I have been ask for registration and license, but you are right that nothing is said about there being only one plate. In fact one of my brothers plates is sitting on the bottom of one of the ID lakes we fish.
I think if you show you went through the motions, they will accept that.
Well, yesterday I recieved a temporary registration. The nice ladies at the courthouse had never seen anything like my ODC 816! Today I sent in my forms (and money) for permanent tags. The form is very adament about having a hull or id number. I did sent along spec. sheets and photos. Now it’s wait and see what happens.
WHAT? That is funky. Here it is take the paper work or the boat and motor to the DMV, get the registration and a STATE sticker. the number on the registration they give you, you go to the store and buy 3" numbers and letters. Put them on a backing, state sticker next to it, and good to go…no waiting.
My official registration came to day!!
Any Okies, please reply.
Do you have to register a yak, even if it won’t be powered (other than by hand)?
Thanks,
John

Google your State Regs. It varies so much from State to State.
