Pontoon Boat Storage Ideas?

Where and how do you store your pontoon boat? Do you disassemble it to store it or do you store it assembled and ready to go? I have limited space in my garage; however, my garage has a high ceiling so I’m thinking of rigging some sort of pulley system to raise and lower it. Any ideas or schematics of how to rig a pulley system?

castafly…I just went through this this weekend…so still a little bit of work in progress…but I have a place to store it vertically against a wall… I naturally thought of a pulley system and actually bought a couple but did not like the pulley idea once I tried it…then remembered the “Rope Ratchet”…smooth as silk…

i just take the pontoons off and then leave the frame fully assemble and lean then up against the wall

but that pulley system sounds like it owuld be a lot better

Deflated on the Top bunk of my motorhome. Its out of the way and always ready to go fishing.

I too store my pontoon inflated vertically in the garage. To make pulling it up easier I have a double reaved pulley system. There are two sets of lines, rigged up as follows. starting at an eye bolt in the ceiling, the line comes down passing through a loose pulley and then back up and through another pulley at the ceiling. The line then comes down again and this is the end you pull on. at the loose pulley, attach a carbiner which you use to attach to the pontoon frame. As I said, there are two of these pulley set ups, one for each side of the pontoon. Just tie the pulling ends together to keep them even. Using two pulleys cuts the effective weight you are lifting by half and makes it all much easier.

So now I just back the pickup up to the garage door, slide the toon out, hook on the two carbiners and pull. Up she goes. When its all the way up, I tie the ropes off to a boat cleat mounted on the garage wall. I also let out a little air since the garage can get quite hot.

Hope this helps.
