Last Saturday I had an uninvited guest for dinner. As I would get a fish in close to the pontoon he would come from behind and try for the fish. So close it was spooky. Thats my shadow on the water. Actually got two for five try’s. <img

PETI,
I am so envious having not yet seen a bald eagle in the wild! With all the outdoor photo contests, your picture should be a winner! Beautiful!
Mike
Excellent photograph!! I would enter that one in a contest. The photo shows action and also tells the story of a great fisher. I always tell people to look at the leg feathers on the immature Bald eagles to diferentiate between them and the golden/Mexican eagle. The bald eagle has no feathers to create drag as its legs enter the water to catch a fish, its’ primary source of food. The golden, primarily a carrion eater, has feathers all the way down to its’ feet.
Beautifully illustrated in this photograph!! I am most envious and jealous and proud for you at the same time to be able to get such a great photo!!
Thanks for sharing!!
Andy
all types of fishermen must pull together for the good of all!!!
Have several osprey where I fish, and an occasional Baldy. I have had the osprey try for some of my fish, never when I have a camera in hand. That is BEAUTIFUL!!
I have a video of the wifes and my Alaska trip last June of a Bald Eagle catching a fish that was too large for it to handle.
The action just happened in the center of the scene I was videoing, totally unplanned.
They are one magnificent bird!
