Pittsburg NH fishing.

I have some time in mid April and was thinking of a trip to the Conn. lakes and river area in pittsburg NH.
Has anyone fished there at that time of the year? can you give me any info about it. Would it be worth a trip?

Thanks TonyC.

The weather can still be cold and nasty that time of year, I usually wait until after Memorial Day myself.

A few years ago I went through Pittsburgh and up Moose Ally, not fishing, just on a joy ride, around the first of May
There was still plenty of snow and the side roads and pull-offs were all mud and ice.
I think that the snow pack will hold on even longer this year
We ended up fishing a river in the southern Whites that weekend with nothing to show.

Average ice out on the lakes is somewhere around April 20. Likely to still have some snow and ice on the banks. Maybe some salmon fishing in the streams around Mother’s Day, but I wouldn’t expect any trout fishing until after Memorial Day. I usually don’t fish there until June, and even then, over the past 10 years, I’ve encountered high water and cold air temps.
