Pictures of my canoe with new seat installed...

Well, I finally got it done. Today I installed the new boat seat and removable mount that I purchased at Bass Pro shops last week. Installation was a snap.
Here are some pictures:

Here are the seat and mount:

I did not install the optional locking bar for the back of the seat mount as this would make it almost impossible to remove the seat. If needs be I will install it but the seat locks solidly into the front mount and I will not be using this set up for white water. The seat rotates, flips up, 90 degrees to engage/disengage the mount.

The top of bottom seat cushion is just even with the gunwales. That should eliminate any high center of gravity issues but I can lower the seat if needs be. I bought the wooden seat from Bear Creek Canoe and Kayak on eBay last year but due to the poor circulation in my legs I need to sit up just high enough to put more bend in my legs. Not an issue while sitting in the bow or stern seats but that center seat was no fun so I used it as the base for this seat and mount.

Tomorrow it’s off to the water for a stability check, I don’t foresee any issues, and then some time on the lake. I will let you know how it went.

Very nice indeed, I would still manage to fall over in it,

for some reason me a canoes don’t get along…

Steve,
She is 42" wide at the beam. Also a modified V hull. You can literally roll her on her side and she will ship a small amount of water, right herself and toss the occupants overboard (just joking).:wink: Darned hard to roll/capsize but you can fall out of her. I am worried that the seat may be too comfy thus resulting in my falling asleep and falling out.

Darn, Eric! Ya’ went and posted, Exac-er-ly, what I was gonna ask ya!!
“How are you going to stay awake, on a warm, sunny, summer day in that seat and still fish”!?
(Nice looking, installation job, though!)
