Figured I’d share what I’ve been tying up lately…
size 6 Clouser minnows
size 10 Clouser minnow with pine squirrel zonker on top, tied on a circle hook. I think this is going to catch a few green sunfish!
size 6 Clouser minnow, circle hook, rabbit strip on top.
Fiery Brown, size 10
size 12 bobwhite soft hackle

Have you had luck with circle hooks? I haven’t yet.
I’m not sure circle hooks are the way to go with many warmwater species. We use them in the salt for fish that attack and pull. You’ll have to let us know about your success rate with the circle hooks.

I haven’t tried circle hooks yet either, but I’m anxious to try them out. My main target with the bigger ones will be white bass, which tend to hit hard and run. The smaller ones I’m going to be targeting small bass and green sunfish, and they aren’t delicate “takers” most of the time either. I’ll report back when I’ve got a couple trips under my belt.
Wes, I’ve got a place up here to try out the calf clousers… I’ll give you a shout when they move to the rocks. Largemouths, crappie, bluegills, and a few white bass on the riprap!
The circle hooks work great on all panfish. The fish hook them self, and when dealing with crappie’s paper thin mouth that is a good thing. The circle hook keeps you from setting the hook and ripping it out of the mouth,just let them take it and then and tension. No need to rip on the rod.

Its the best fiery brown i’ve seen heres a pic of a dabbler with it. If your looking for true Irish colours then he’s your man.
Very nice tie, greenoc! That will probably see a few rainbows, but mainly panfish and small bass. I tie a lot of wets mainly for personal entertainment. They’re visually appealing and fun to tie… (and they catch a bunch of fish too!)
