Peace Brokering: The Corn Fly

so … if one were to dremmel up some balsa on a hook, paint in same corn fashion - and have a white marabour tail - would that make it a pop-corm fly ? … (sorry - couldn’t resist).

Thanks Diane - I will try that corn version. I take carp fly fishing as serious as anything - especially when they’re one of the handiest fish close to home. Regardless of the ‘rough fish’ tag, a 10lb carp is a good battle - and not too easy a catch on artificials.

Darrell,
The popccorn fly, and it’s evil twin, the cheesy pop corn fly, are made with thin strips of foam. They’re a total hoot! I’ll make up a couple, and try to get pictures for you.

PS … try the Latchstring Restaurant/Spearfish Canyon Lodge in Savoy for their incredible bread pudding!!!

Trouts don’t live in ugly places

Where do you draw the line indeed. Certain aquatic insect patterns work that are non-native to the waters they are fished. Should they be snubbed by “purists”? Let innovation go it’s own route. Use cheese if you want to!

This whole topic is way to CORNY for me. I’ll stick to traditional methods…thank you.
