P'cock Swap

********** SWAP IS CLOSED, AND THIS IS FINAL

Wow, after seeing Featherchucker’s bluegill fly in the warmwater section, couldn’t help but think we could have a dandy swap using our old friends, the peacock. Only rule: your fly must contain some peacock as one of the ingredients. Hopefully Featherchucker will join in. Anyway, you folks know the game. I will jump in. Not sure what I will tie.

Rick

Wow, we’re already half way there. JGW

Please count me in. The pattern will be an EZC Carpenter Ant. Thanks
Chuck

Count me in. I’ve already joined the beginners swap, but I ought to have some extra spare time on my hands in December.

I’ll soon decide what i’ll tie.

Cheers,

sure I’ll play.
az peacock lady or a variant thereof.

mgj

Count me in with some sorta soft-hackle.

I saw one that would be perfect for the pheasant feathers I aquired from a less than willing donor on the opening day of pheasant season. I gotta search up the pattern now though. . .

<edit>
Found it! Tragopan Red, but I gotta use feathers from a regular ringneck. Them other’s are tough to find!!

I’d like to join in. Don’t know what i’ll do yet.
Tony

I’m in, if there’s still room.

Jay

WELL! that sure filled up fast…just got over here and I’m counting 11 “ins” …guess that lets me off the ‘hook’ for tying some of those Bluegill Imitators…til next time. Anyone already in feel free to take my recipe and go with it if you haven’t decided yet.

Steve

I fish, therefore I swam.

don,

that’s don shipp’s pattern, correct?

mgj

Wow did this ever fill up fast. But it’s filled and time to tie! JGW

It is Don Shipp’s pattern. I ran accross it a couple of years ago and have done searches for the Tragopan Pheasant feathers a couple of times. Last time, I founs a patch that was all glued onto cardboard for crafting on E-Bay for around $30 and a full skin, minus tail, for $200.

I did notice that the bird I got had some very similar feathers on it when I was plucking it, so I will scrounge up a bunch in the same size and have at it. Won’t be as colorful, but should look pretty good.

Don

Okay, tyers. Should we add one more? I’m game. It’ll just raise the ante one more fly. Like to get Ursus in it too, They both have such interesting flies. JGW

Works for me. I am doing a Tom Nixon
Brown peacock nymph variation.
Do you want 11 or 12 flies?

Rick

We’ll make it an even dozen. Featherchucker, you’re in. Meister’s edict! So everyone ties a dozen flies. Thanks, everyone. JGW

Ok, John and crew, you got me by order of executive decision to make it a dozen. I’m in. This is my first ever fly swap.
Guess you folks with be getting a Bluegill Imitator. I will most likely go with the doll eyes modification ( unless someone wants to send me a number 1 grade jungle cock cape, lol!) and weight it just a tad to make it less bouyant and add to the action.
