I’m looking for large nymph legs, on ties similar to large hare’s ears, and am unsure which of the three would be most appropriate. I’m not in a position to check out quail or Brahma hen in person, and the Hun. feathers I have are a bit on the large side.
Could anybody spare a bit of advice on the tradeoffs between the three materials, and what alternate used I could find for them. (I know partridge is also used for soft hackles, and that’s about it.)
Is there another mateiral I shouls be thinkign of as well? Thanks in advance.
Josko,
Drop me an email and I will send you some Brahma saddle hackles to try.
Cheers,
Hans W

I tied some flies with Brahma saddle hackles, they tie a nice spider although not an exact substitute for Golden Plover.

Thanks for the offer hans. It’s much appreciated.
I just ordered a brahma hen and quail cape - they weren’t that expensive, and I’m sure I’ll find a use for them.
Once agaon, thanks for your kind offer.
