I’m green with envy. (Sorry, I felt it was an obligatory comment.) I wish I had a pile of parrot and parakeet feathers. I can only guess at what weirdness I might come with. But the Parrot Tail Nymph (PTN?) is a good looking fly.

If you have a pet store near you that also sells birds, you might be able to acquire all the feathers you want. Just a thought.

Another place to get feathers is your local vet. If they clip the flight feathers, you’ll get some beautiful flies from them!
I have a kakatail at home. His color is basically gray and yellow head. I have saved some of the feathers of the wings (we clipped the primary feathers). I’m always checking in the cage for the yellow feathers of the head.
The gray feathers may be good for some nymph midges.

Tie with them all the time I get mine at the local bird store parrot is the best. Tough lots of oil in the feathers just ask for the clippings. they always say here. I ll have to show you a fly. Matter of fact Im going to submit it to fly of the week in July 07. by the way you like my fly of the week Vincent Price. Jeff
