Deer hair butts make a neat little wing pad/pfd. Tied here in PMD colors; change to suit your needs.

hook - Dai Riki 320 #16
thread - UTC 70 yellow
shuck - Congo Hair brown
abdomen - biot PMD
post/wing pad - deer hair bleached
hackle - ginger (oversize by 1)
thorax - Superfine dubbing PMD

Part 1

Mash down barb, attach thread

tie in CH, fold and wrap back to point above barb

tie in moistened biot; wrap to initial tie-in

clean, stack, measure (hook length) a clump of deer hait

tie down, trim butts

Part 2

pull post back and set upright with thread dam; post it

tie in hackle, shiny side out

dub thorax

wrap down the post, cup-side up; let it hang

tie off hackle at base of post; trim tip, one wrap through thorax, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

trim shuck
