Para Spinner SBS

Based on Shane Stalcup’s design; subbed poly yarn wing for Medallion sheeting. Tied here as a rusty spinner; change color/size to suit your needs.

hook ? Dai Riki 320 #14
thread - MFC 8/0 rusty brown
tail ? hackle fibers golden badger
body ? goose biot rust
post - foam cylinder chartreuse
thorax - dubbing rust
hackle - golden badger (oversize by 1)
wing - Congo Hair dun

Part 1

mash barb, start thread at 2/3 mark, wrap to point above barb, create bump

strip hackle fibers, even tips, measure (hook length); tie in/trim

tie in (moistened) biot, notch-side down, wrap to 2/3 mark; tie off/trim

tie in foam cylinder

tie in hackle, shiny side out

dub thread/dub rear half of thorax

Part 2

tie in a hank of CH at base of post

dub front of thorax tight against wing, forcing it back at an angle; finish with thread at base of post

wind hackle down post; capture tip with thread, half hitch x 2 at base, SHHAN

pull wing back and trim even with bend; trim
