Anybody have a home remedy for pain Please???

Clean it out well…You can superglue the wound shut. Works well on the paw pads and anywhere else for that matter. Especially if its in an area that they cannot get to easilly. Loctite brand works well…even used it on myself a time or two. Simple Motrin works on dogs as well as people. 600mg will do the trick…with some food.
motrin (ibuprofin) isn’t good for dogs.
this’ll tell why:

I have a really good to have book by Richard W Redding, DVM Titled, “The Dog’s Drugstore”. This book outlines all kinds of human over the counter medications that can be used for dogs.
Dogs can handle Aspirin better than people. Dr. Redding says in his book to dose at about 5-10mg per pound of weight every 8 hours. Aspirin is the safest over the counter pain reliever for dogs. Don’t give it more than a couple of days as it can cause kidney damage.
I have given The Guard Poodle aspirin on occasion.
Awe-Righty then Asprin it is…Thanks …Lets gitter done

I will Sir…ya know…I just wanderin if it might be a 22 bullet cuz she sure doesn’t want to get up or even move.
If she still does this by sunup we’ll see the Vet. in the morning…need to anyways…
Gotta real funny feelin its a 22 bullet…and stuck in her shoulder bone…got my fingers crossed.
Thanks everyone
who the heck would hurt your poor puppy i hate people like that. If you feel that it might be a bullet then take her to the hospital asap don’t wait. a 22 can get in the blood stream and cause damage. place ground asprin in the wound to help wound to assist in pain release and 10mg per pound for dogs. with with a single 200 being being the max (vet stated this last time my dog needed them) once a day with food. do not use superglue if the wound more then 1/8 deep or depth is unknown.and use thin superglue not med or thick.
Wes, Interesting reading. I’ve always known that dogs can “OD” on Motrin if ingested in large quantities and it’s not good for prolonged use. We’ve used it for years on larger dogs, to get them past the intitial stages of trauma. Usually with dogs the period is no more than a few days. Never had any adverse affects noticed, aside from needing to give it with food…but thats the same with many people as well. Thanks for the heads-up.
Charlaine…thats correct “standard” superglue…not the gell. Never close any wound of unknown depth. However, superglue can be used in place of sutures, so not sure on the 1/8" depth?
Thanks Ya’ll,she up n bouncin around this morning and perty much acting quite normal so its not a bullet…i think someone thru a rock and got her …but she seems to be fine this morning.
I guess I was just worried about her…Thanks again ya’ll
A reaction to doggie aspirin from the vet almost killed our collie a number of years ago. Apparently it was an unusual reaction.
If the wound looks like a slice, or knife slice type of wound then look for a protruding piece of metal, nail, glass etc, in the yard or area that she plays in.
It is time for you to play detective to prevent this from happening again…
Because she is up and bouncing around does not mean this will never happen again if the cause is not found…
Yea she has some swelling and layin right here beside me and I did look real close for thorns and glass and she did not like that at all…found nothing…used my headset magnifier.
I went and got some Asprin and some Plain Yogurt incase she has a tummy ache from the asprin.
Again, Thanks every body…I learned alot about my friend.
Gotta take care of the dogs. They love you even when you are drunk and say stupid things. They don’t care if you tell them they are fat, or have gray hair, or smell funny. And they don’t talk your ear off asking how you feel about the relationship.
Yep. Gotta take care of the dog.
This is what my BEST FRIEND EVER looked like at the beginning of July. He is OK now well doing much better, still way too thin to my eyes, but getting better all the time. I love him but the thing is he will always love me more, and judge me less, just a dogs way. If only we had their way of looking at things and their hearts and capacity for love and giving of Joy and Loyalty .

I think that one of the reasons that God gave us dogs is to show us how far we fall short of being humans.
