As reported on various sources in the Harrisburg area:

As a Pennsylvanian it always makes me sad to hear about one the legendary anglers of Pennsylvania passing on to the Letort Spring Run in the sky. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting most of the Letort Regulars but never Ed. Those guys were my fishing idols when I was a kid just starting out.

Pretty much the only regular left is Ed Shenk and I guess Lefty.

It sucks getting old! :frowning:

I’ll swig a dram and spill a wee dram into the Letort for Ed Koch on the next trip!

RIP

I think Lefty will be spending his time holding clinics at his new Fly Fishing Challenge course (part of HomeWaters Club) at Spruce Creek , PA. Stay tuned LF article on it next week. Sorry to see the passing of Ed, he was one of the good guys and could actually write.
Hugs,
LF

A crash in the forest. As I walk the Hemlock Trail of Life I am saddened that another Giant has fallen. Mr. Koch was known to help young anglers across the state. I met him through the fund raising “fair” of our own Junior High School Hunting and Fishing Club. That was many moons ago. He worked with our teacher Mr. Ed Carlson to put on wonderful tying and casting demonstrations. His effort helped a bunch of us kids start down the road of being responsible patrons of the outdoors and learning to enjoy the wonders of being outdoors. His contributions also helped bring in “The Wally Taber Show” to our schools. I could never give back to these great men what they have given to me. I shall endeavor to pay it forward for them.

God bless you, Sir! Thank you for the beautiful gifts of the heart and soul that you gave to all of us throughout your days here on this earth. My condolences and most heart felt prayers are with your family and friends. On my next fishing trip the first fish I catch will be released, unharmed, back into the wilderness in your honor, Sir!

Ed’s insights of passing on fly fishing in a jovial manner will be missed. Drank a beer in his honor for our discussions on my " dang too big " bass fly tying & his diminuative trout flies craftsmanship with lots of good jokes; which never would have happened without Disciples’ fly shop back in the 80’s & 90’s. He’ll be remembered everytime there’s reference needed in one of his books in the home library.
