outfitters in Canada

I have a friend in South Africa who is wanting to go fly fishing in Canada. Can anyone recommend a good outfitter for trout species. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime trip for him, so a quality outfitter would be paramount.

Thanks,

Where in Canada?? It’s only the second largest country on the planet. It takes about ten days to drive coast to coast. It would also help to know when?

Thank you all so much. He wasn’t sure when would be the best time, the thought he’d ask the outfitters and sort of go from there.

I really appreciated the responses, and will pass on the information to him in short order.

Take care and tight lines,
TT.

I’m going to make a suggestion, since it sounds like this fellow is looking for THE trip of a life time. If he can get his hands on this TV series Hooked with Mark Krupa , now available in one video:

Mark takes you on a journey across the whole of Canada, to the best locations…mostly fly fishing. It’s shot in HD and it’s probably the best Fly Fishing Travel Series I have ever seen. The shots are beautiful. Mark can be corny which makes this series fun to watch. He’s an actor by trade and an avid photographer and outdoor writer. He writes and shoots a lot of photos for Canadian Fly Fisher Magazine.

The point is, he takes the viewer across Canada to some of the absolutely best places to fish this country has. This means the viewer who wants to go to these places may need a pretty deep pocketbook. Other than that, it gives the viewer the true spectacle of the Canadian wilderness fishing experience. If your friend can afford to do just one place in this series, I’m sure he will be a very happy man.

I would also make another suggestion… Chris Chin, in Quebec ( a member and contributor on this board). He giudes for Atlantic Salmon, among other things. http://fcchflyfishing.blogspot.com/ At the very least get in contact with him.

“Atlantics” are the crown jewel of fish, fly anglers dream of going after.

I also just got back from Le Reserve Beauchene. It’s a beautiful place with a large number of species of fish to target. This is moslty flat water fishing (lakes) and not a purely fly fishing destination. I would highly suggest he be prepared to hire a guide with this place, unless he really knows what he’s doing. It’s really a spectacular place and I will be putting together a report on it soon. The facilities were wonderful, beautiful country and the service and hospitality was five star all the way. The food on the American Plan was spectacular. It’s located near Temiscaming, QC.

If he’s computer savvy there are other options to acquiring the series. spelled t…o…r…r…e…n…t and the only reason I’m saying that is because SA is the PAL system for TV video viewing so not sure the video would work on his TV…but it will on his computer. I’m thinking the digital world is changing this problem. ???
